AUBURNDALE – Jack Schar had two of Auburndale’s five hits but Chequamegon took advantage of 11 walks and four errors to beat the Apaches 16-2 in a nonconference baseball game Thursday at Auburndale High School.
The Screaming Eagles scored two runs in each of the first three innings of their season opener, and finished the game off with a seven-run sixth inning to win by the 10-run rule.
Cole Swanson allowed 11 walks and eight hits over 5 1/3 innings in the loss for the Apaches. Seven of the 16 runs he allowed were unearned.
Schar was 2-for-3 for Auburndale (1-3), which returns to Marawood Conference South Division action Friday at Northland Lutheran.
