Columbus Catholic baseball beats Loyal for first win of season

LOYAL – The Columbus Catholic baseball team won its first game of the season, rallying with four runs in the seventh inning to beat Loyal 10-7 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Monday at Loyal High School.

Columbus (1-3 overall and Cloverbelt East) led 6-2 before Loyal took the lead with a run in the fifth inning and four in the sixth.

The Dons rebounded with four runs of their own in the top of the seventh to pull out the victory.

Tyler Fuerlinger, John Edwards and Ryan Dieringer each had two hits for Columbus.

Jeremy Binder earned the victory despite allowing four runs in two innings of relief.

The Dons are scheduled to host Greenwood on Tuesday.

Loyal falls to 2-4 and 2-3 in the conference. Loyal statistics were not provided.
