MARATHON – Craig Serchen tied for fourth with an 80 and Josh Berres was sixth with an 81 as the Marshfield boys golf team finished third at the third leg of the 2014 Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Golf Tournament on Friday at Pine Valley Golf Course.
The event was hosted by Wausau East.
Marshfield finished with a score of 333, two shots behind second-place Wausau East and four off the first-place score of 329 by Stevens Point.
Marshfield falls into second place in the overall tournament standings, two points behind Stevens Point.
Taylor Thomas of Stevens Point and Matt Thuman of Wausau East tied for medalist honors with 76s.
Kyle Hoffman had an 85 and Ian Pillai and Derek Michalski shot 87s to round out the scoring for Marshfield.
The Tigers will compete in the Merrill Invitational on Saturday. The fourth leg of the conference tournament is Tuesday at Greenwood Hills Country Club in Wausau.
