Big second-inning propels D.C. Everest past Marshfield softball

WESTON – D.C. Everest scored 11 runs in the second inning and went on to a 16-5 win over Marshfield in a Wisconsin Valley Conference softball game Friday.

D.C. Everest remains undefeated on the season at 15-0 and improves to a perfect 7-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Marshfield is now 7-7 and 4-5 in the conference.

Everest had six doubles in the second inning to open up an 11-1 lead.

Jessica Wilke and Makayla Pagel each smacked two-run homers for Everest.

“They’re a pretty good hitting team and took advantage in that second inning,” Marshfield coach Mike Voss said.

Marshfield hosts Antigo for a nonconference doubleheader Saturday at the Central Wisconsin Fairgounds.
