MARSHFIELD – A five-run fifth inning allowed Marshfield to pull away in the second game and the Tigers were able to salvage a split with Antigo in a nonconference doubleheader Saturday at Central Wisconsin Fairgrounds.
Antigo won Game 1 6-5 before the Tigers came back to take the second game 9-3. Marshfield is now 8-8 this season.
Mary Kloos was 3-for-4 with a double and Katie Treankler and McKenzie Geldernick each added two hits for Marshfield in Game 2.
Kayla Kluge picked up the win, allowing three runs in four innings.
Lexi Dupee was 4-for-4 with a double and Jessi Lyon had two singles for the Tigers in the opener.
Miranda Baierl allowed five runs in four innings and suffered the loss.
“We had one bad inning in that first game that really cost us, otherwise I felt that both Kayla and Miranda did a great job for us on the mound and the defense did a good job behind them,” Marshfield coach Mike Voss said.
Marshfield hosts Rhinelander at 4 p.m. Wednesday and Wisconsin Rapids at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
