Marshfield boys golf teams finish second and third at Merrill Invitational

MERRILL – The Marshfield boys golf team had a productive day at the Merrill Bluejay Golf Invitational on Saturday.

The Tigers have two teams participate in the event and they placed second and third.

Marshfield-1 took second with a score of 333, two shots behind winner Wausau East. Marshfield-2 was third with a 339.

Brandon Nikolai, playing on Marshfield-2, had a 75 to finish second overall behind Wausau East’s Matt Thuman. Josh Berres finished fifth with a 78 to lead Marshfield-1.

Kyle Hoffman had a 79, Derek Michalski shot an 85 and Craig Serchen had a 92 to round out the Marshfield-1 scores.

Ian Pillai had a 79, Zack Shortess fired an 84 and Jordan Schlinsog had a 101 for Marshfield-2.

Marshfield is back in action Monday at the Eau Claire Invitational and Tuesday at the fourth leg of the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament at Greenwood Hills Country Club in Wausau.
