NEILLSVILLE – Neillsville held serve on top of the Cloverbelt Conference East Division softball standings, sweeping a doubleheader from second-place Spencer in a matchup that saw both teams enter the game unbeaten in the conference.
Neillsville won 10-5 and 5-4 to improve to 11-0 overall and in the Cloverbelt East. Spencer is now 12-4 and 8-2 in the conference.
Neillsvilled scored four runs in the bottom of the first and added five in the third to go up 9-1 and cruise to the win in Game 1.
Macie Weber was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs in the loss for Spencer. She suffered the loss on the mound, giving up nine runs – seven earned – in just two innings.
Neillsville scored the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth of Game 2.
Brooke Kettleborough had two RBIs for the Rockets.
