MARSHFIELD – Rhinelander scored six runs, five after two were out, in the second inning to take the early lead and went on to defeat Marshfield 9-5 in a nonconference softball game Wednesday at Central Wisconsin Fairgounds.
An error with two outs allowed the inning to continue and Rhinelander (10-4) collected six straight hits after that to take a 6-0 lead.
Marshfield had five hits and walked seven times, but only scored in two innings – two in the second and three in the fifth.
Lexi Dupee had two hits, including a two-RBI double, for the Tigers (8-9).
Marshfield hosts Wisconsin Rapids in a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
