MARSHFIELD – Wisconsin Rapids scored three runs in the first inning and Madison Bogie cracked a three-run home run in the third to lift the Raiders to a 9-2 win over Marshfield in a Wisconsin Valley Conference softball game Thursday at Central Wisconsin Fairgrounds.
Allison Brost tossed a complete game for the Raiders, limiting Marshfield to five hits, and was 4-for-4 with three doubles offensively.
Bogie’s three-run homer came on Marshfield pitcher Miranda Baierl’s first pitch after she relieved Kayla Kluge with two runners on in the third.
Mary Kloos had two hits for Marshfield (8-10, 4-6 WVC).
“Brost’s change-up was really working tonight and we were getting out in front of it,” Marshfield coach Mike Voss said. “We were making contact, but most of the time we were hitting soft grounders or bloopers that were caught. She was keeping us off-balance.”
Marshfield will play at the Escanaba (Mich.) Tournament on Saturday.
