WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Daulton Varsho hit a home run and two Marshfield players had two hits apiece as the Tigers defeated Wisconsin Rapids 6-2 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference baseball game Thursday at Witter Field.
Jace Krasselt had a key two-RBI single to break at 2-2 tie with the two outs in the fifth innings for the Tigers (10-5 overall, 4-3 Wisconsin Valley Conference).
Trevor Schwecke and Devin Zahradka each had two hits for Marshfield.
Jack Donahue picked up the win for the Tigers, giving up just one earned run in the complete-game effort.
Wisconsin Rapids falls to 6-8 overall and 3-9 in the Valley.
Marshfield hosts Wausau West at 4:30 p.m. Friday, then will play Holmen in the first game of its Marshfield Invitational at 7 p.m. The tournament continues Saturday at Jack Hackman Stadium. The games will be Marshfield’s first home games of the season.
