Gilman edges Spencer softball

GILMAN – The Spencer softball team rallied to tie the game with two runs in the top of the seventh inning but couldn’t hold on as Gilman won it with a run in the bottom of the inning to win 5-4 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday.

Brooke Kettleborough had a two-run double to tie the game for the Rockets in the seventh before Gilman won it in the bottom of the inning.

Macie Weber had two hits for the Rockets.

Tynae Phillips suffered the loss, striking out seven and walking five in a complete-game effort.

Spencer finishes its regular-season schedule with a doubleheader against Greenwood on Monday and a game at Columbus Catholic on Tuesday.
