STEVENS POINT – Marshfield’s top singles player and top doubles team qualified for Thursday’s sectional after reaching the semifinals in their flights at the 2014 WIAA Boys Tennis Subsectional on Tuesday at Stevens Point Area Senior High.
Marshfield’s No. 1 singles player Hunter Schultz won his first match to move on to the sectionals. The freshman is 7-6 this season.
Marshfield’s No. 1 doubles team of Bryce Gadke and Jacob Limmex, both juniors, also moved on to the sectional Thursday at Ashwaubenon with a victory. They are now 12-3 as a team this year.
The top four finishers in the No. 1 singles and doubles brackets at the sectional will qualify for the 2014 WIAA State Individual Boys Tennis Tournament in Madison on June 5-7. The top team at the sectional moves on to the 2014 WIAA State Team Boys Tennis Tournament in Madison on June 13-14.
