TOMAHAWK – The Stratford girls won the team title and had six event winners at the 2014 WIAA Division 2 Track & Field Regional at Tomahawk High School on Tuesday.
Seven Stratford girls and all four relay teams qualified for Friday’s Division 2 sectional at Bloomer with top-four finishes at the regional.
All four Stratford boys relays teams also moved on to sectionals, as did four boys in seven individual events.
Winning regional titles for the Stratford girls were Brooke Schultze in the high jump (5 feet), Mackenzie Hannan in the shot put (35-6.5) and Nadia King in the 1,600 (5:57.46).
The 3,200 relay team of Schultze, Bailey Bohman, Johnelle Miner and King won in 10:18.01; the 800 team of Schultze, Abby Bender, Tori Dietel and Emily Hauke won in 1:49.94; and the 1,600 team of Schultze, Bender, Hauke and King took first in 4:13.62.
The 400 relay team of Amanda Rindfleisch, Bender, Dietel and Hauke were third in 53.10 seconds to also move on to the sectional.
Individually, Brianna LaSee was second in the long jump (15-8), Hauke was third in the long jump (14-8.25), Kelsey Boeger took third in the 300 hurdles (52.37) and Miner was third in the 3,200 (12:23.51) to qualify for sectionals.
Eli Temanson led the Stratford boys team to a third-place team finish by winning two events and qualifying for sectionals in a third and helping a relay team move on as well.
Temanson won the 100 meters (11.01) and the 200 (22.64), was second in the pole vault (13-0), and teamed with Phil Sersch, Kellen Bornbach and Anthony Marten to finish second in the 800 relay (1:35.04).
The 400 relay team of Sersch, Anthony Gliniecki, Bornbach and Tyler Gilbertson (47.58) and the 3,200 team of Kyle Giebel, Cade Lehman, Mark Wenzel and John Geissinger (8:58.71) each finished third. The 1,600 relay team of Marten, Hunter Reif, Sersch and Eric Belter took fourth (3:45.69) to also qualify for the sectional.
Hunter Kauffman took second in the discus (128-2), Marten was third in the 200 (24.10) and Jacob Zuelke took third in both the 1,600 (4:46.25) and 3,200 (10:43.34) to move on as well for the Tigers.
