WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield Clinic Post 54 Blue Devils American Legion varsity baseball team finished in second place at the Wisconsin Rapids Tournament this past weekend.
After winning twice on Saturday, the Blue Devils (5-4) split a pair of games Sunday.
Marshfield beat Nekoosa 14-6 in the semifinals behind a complete game from pitcher Trevor Schwecke. Caleb Alexander had a single and a double in the victory.
Marshfield, which edged Green Bay Southwest 2-1 on Saturday, couldn’t beat them again, however, losing to Southwest in the tournament championship game 7-2.
Bobby Pilz suffered the loss for the Blue Devils, despite allowing just one earned run in five innings. Daulton Varsho had a triple for Marshfield.
Marshfield hosts Wausau on Monday at 7 p.m. at Jack Hackman Field.
