Marshfield senior catcher Daulton Varsho has been selected as the top senior Infielder/Catcher as part of the Wisconsin Sports Network (wissports.net) senior Baseball Awards.
Varsho was a first-team all-state selection at catcher by the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association after earning second-team honors last year. He was the Wisconsin Valley Conference Player of the Year, hitting .462 with six home runs, 31 RBI, 35 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases.
Varsho was a four-year varsity starter for the Tigers, earning honorable mention all-conference as a freshman, second team accolades as a sophomore, and unanimous first-team honors as both a junior and senior.
Varsho will play collegiately at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee next season.
Other finalists for the award were Carter Amundsen of Sheboygan South, Turner Doornink of Clintonville, Nick Lemke of Rosholt, and Kyle Mrozinski of Ashwaubenon.
Past winners of the award include Prescott’s Billy Brookshaw (2012) and Bay Port’s Drew Neuville (2013).
Jeren Kendall of Holmen was named the top senior Outfielder and Cal Giese of Stevens Point was tapped as the top senior Pitcher by wissports.net.
