MENASHA – The Marshfield Chaparrals amateur baseball team squandered a lead late and lost to the Menasha Macs 5-4 on Friday at Koslo Park.
Marshfield scored four runs in the top of the first inning and maintained a lead throughout most of the game.
Trailing 4-1 after seven innings, Menasha (17-7) scored a run in the bottom of the eighth and two more in the ninth to pull out the victory.
Rayme Strey took the loss, throwing a complete game. He struck out four and walked six in 8 2/3 innings.
Aaron Schwecke had two hits and Eric Pritzl had an RBI for the Chaparrals (9-9).
Marshfield plays at Plover on Tuesday.
