Marshfield boys soccer splits two at Sun Prairie Quad

SUN PRAIRIE – The Marshfield boys soccer team went 1-1 Saturday at the Sun Prairie Quadrangular, moving its season record to 2-2.

Marshfield shutout Platteville/Lancaster 5-0 before being shut out by host Sun Prairie 4-0.

Alex Sainterme had two goals and an assist, and Chris Paul had a goal and two assists for the Tigers in the win over Platteville/Lancaster.

Pahl got the ball rolling with a goal just 1:50 into the game, and Stainterme scored twice in a 10-minute span to put Marshfield up 3-0 just 19 minutes in.

Luke McCann added a goal before halftime and Jake Limmex finished off the scoring for the Tigers with a goal early in the second half.

Mathias Holm earned the shutout in goal for Marshfield.

Nick Jatta scored three goals in a five-minute span late in the second half to push Sun Prairie to the win in the Tigers’ second game of the tournament.

“It was a good team win,” Marshfield coach Steve McCann said of the Tigers’ win. “The entire squad contributed and some of the new varsity players had the opportunity to play and demonstrate their skills in a varsity level contest.”

Marshfield hosts Wausau West on Tuesday and Wausau East on Thursday as the Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule begins. Both games will start at 5 p.m. at Griese Park.
