WAUSAU – The Marshfield girls soccer team went 1-2 on a windy Saturday at the Wausau West Invitational.
The Tigers beat La Crosse Logan 1-0, and lost to Green Bay Preble 4-0 and Eau Claire Memorial 6-0 to move to 2-5-1 on the season.
Emily Wolfe scored at the 31:01 mark of the second half to give the Tigers their lone goal in the victory over Logan. Courtney Thuman assisted.
Kassi Todryk had five saves in goal for Marshfield.
Preble used the wind to its advantage in Game 2, scoring three first-half goals with the wind. Preble held the Tigers to just two shots on goal as Naomi Crump lost her season debut in goal, finishing with three saves.
“It was Naomi’s first game at the varsity level, and overall it was OK,” assistant coach Steve Lindner said. “We know she would normally make those saves and to get the experience at the varsity level will only help her in the future.”
Memorial took a 1-0 lead in the first half of the third game, then used the wind to its advantage to score five times in the second half.
Marshfield returns to Wisconsin Valley Conference action with a pair of home games at Griese Park this week. The Tigers host Wausau East on Tuesday and Rhinelander on Thursday. Both games start at 5 p.m.
