Marshfield girls third, boys fifth at home Tiger Invitational

MARSHFIELD – Medford’s Jared Rudolph and Lakeland’s Lauren Schilling both ran away early from the competition on their ways to the individual titles at the Marshfield Tiger Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday at Wildwood Park.

Schilling won the girls title in 16:11.6, 27.1 seconds ahead of teammate Nicole Gilman.

Rudolph was the boys winner in 16:43.1 as he outran Lakeland’s Andrew Schilling by 23.9 seconds.

Chippewa Falls won the girls team title and Lakeland took first in the boys standings.

Dani Bender led the Marshfield girls, taking fourth in 17:14.9. McKayla Scheuer was 12th (17:38.9), Morgan Irish 13th (17:39.8) and Ashley Holubets 19th (18:00.4) to lead the Tigers to a third-place finish.

Marshfield Columbus Catholic was eighth, Spencer 12th and Auburndale 14th out of the 16 complete teams.

Abby Bauer took 29th to lead the Apaches (18:25.7), Rachel Roehl was 39th for the Dons (18:55.2), and Spencer’s top runner was Sam Fuehrer, who was 46th (19:09.5).

In the boys standings, Marshfield was fifth, Columbus Catholic seventh, Spencer 14th and Auburndale 16th.

Ben Behling of Columbus led all area runners, taking 17th in 18:33.8.

Devon Klement topped Marshfield, taking 19th in 18:37.2, while Donovan Fox took 26th for Spencer (19:06.9) and Cody Gehrke was 61st for Auburndale (20:10.7).
