AUBURNDALE – Wyatt Weiler and Paul Willfahrt had first-half touchdown runs, and Jake Lewis returned a kickoff for a score in the fourth to ice it, pushing the Auburndale football team to a 21-6 victory over Chequamegon in a Marawood Conference game Friday night at Auburndale High School.
Matthew Nikolay caught six passes for 75 yards and intercepted a pass on defense, and Weiler racked up 133 yards rushing from the quarterback position to pace the Apaches (3-1 overall and Marawood Conference).
Weiler had a 6-yard touchdown run and Willfahrt ran 2 yards for a score to put Auburndale up 14-0 at halftime.
After a 2-yard touchdown run by Samuel Lehman brought the Screaming Eagles within a score in the fourth, Lewis took the ensuing kickoff and raced 75 yards for a score to finish off the win for Auburndale.
Weiler completed 10 of 14 passes for 149 yards on top of his stellar rushing night.
Auburndale held Chequamegon to 137 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers, while piling up 325 of its own.
Auburndale plays a nonconference game at Fall Creek next Friday.
