WAUKESHA – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County men’s basketball team dropped a tight, high-scoring affair at UW-Waukesha on Saturday, falling 89-82.
Freshman Derrick Shivers had a break-out game for the Marauders (2-3, 1-2 Wisconsin Collegiate Conference) with 32 points and seven rebounds. Shivers was 11 of 22 from the field, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range, and made 6 of 11 free throws.
Joseph Estrict had 15 points and eight rebounds, and Devin Klein added 13 points, both off the bench for UW-Marshfield.
Travis Crayton hit four 3-pointers and had a team-high 25 points for Waukesha.
The difference in the game came at the free throw line. Waukesha was 30 of 37 (81 percent), while Marshfield was just 12 of 21 (57 percent).
UW-Marshfield hosts UW-Baraboo on Monday at 6 p.m.
