Edgar High School senior football player Zachary Pospyhalla has been voted as the WDLB-WOSQ Radio & MarshfieldAreaSports.com November High School Athlete of the Month.

The High School Athlete of the Month Award is sponsored by Marshfield Clinic, Cost Cutters Family Hair Care and Burt Trophy & Awards.

Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award: Abbotsford, Athens, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Marathon, Marshfield, Neillsville, Owen-Withee, Pittsville, Spencer, Stratford and Thorp.

Pospyhalla received more than 5,500 of the 8,600 votes cast.

Pospyhalla was a big-play machine for the Wildcats during their WIAA football playoff run. He had a 56-yard touchdown reception and four tackles in Edgar’s 52-14 victory over Independence/Gilmanton in a Level 3 playoff game on Nov. 6. In the Wildcats’ final game of the season, a 21-20 loss to Darlington in the Division 6 state semifinals, Pospyhalla had a 69-yard punt return for a touchdown, a 71-yard pass reception for a score and four tackles. He was an unanimous first team all-Marawood Conference defensive back.

Other nominees for the November award were Emily Kind of Marathon volleyball, Austin Milliren of Owen-Withee football and Shannon Yahnke of Auburndale girls basketball.
