EDGAR – Shannon Yahnke and Taylor Gotz each poured in 17 points to lift the Auburndale girls basketball team to its sixth-straight win, a 56-42 nonconference victory over Edgar on Tuesday night at Edgar High School.
Gotz added 10 rebounds and six assists for the 6-0 Apaches. Cheyenne Karl chipped in 10 points, making both of her 3-point attempts. Yanke added six rebounds.
Auburndale led 37-30 at halftime after scoring 22 points in the second quarter. The Apaches pushed the lead to double-digits with a 6-2 advantage in the third quarter.
Macey Wirkus topped Edgar (3-2) with 14 points.
Auburndale (1-0 Marawood Conference South Division) plays at undefeated Stratford (6-0, 2-0 Marawood South) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WOSQ-FM 92.3 and wdlbwosq.com.
