Quick start lifts Edgar past Stratford boys basketball

EDGAR – Edgar jumped out to a double-digit lead by halftime and held on to defeat Stratford 65-58 in a nonconference boys basketball game Monday night at Edgar High School.

Edgar led 32-18 at halftime before Stratford chipped away, but couldn’t get all the way back. The Tigers were hot, scoring 40 points in the second half, however, it wasn’t enough.

Jake Reif continued his great season, scoring 25 points for Stratford (6-2). Reif made 9 of 13 shots from the field, including 3 of 5 from 3-point range, and was 4 of 6 at the free throw line.

Jake Schmitt added 13 points and 10 rebounds for Stratford.

Edgar is now 4-3.

Stratford’s next game is Thursday at home against Pittsville.
