Merrill bests Marshfield boys basketball

MERRILL – The Marshfield boys basketball team lost its third game in a row, falling 52-41 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup at Merrill High School on Friday night.

The Tigers are now 4-7 overall and 1-2 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Merrill improves to 6-4 and 3-1 in the conference.

The Tigers host D.C. Everest (8-2) on Tuesday. Everest is tied with Stevens Point for first place at 3-0 in the Valley.

Merrill outscored Marshfield 37-20 in the middle two quarters to pull away.

Will Spindler was a bright spot for the Tigers, making 9 of 14 shots and scoring a team-high 22 points. He also had seven rebounds. Tanner Boson added 12 points for Marshfield.

Chaz Mootz scored 17 points and Austin Reissmann drilled four 3-pointers and had 15 points for Merrill.
