WESTON – D.C. Everest remained undefeated and took over sole possession of first place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference girls basketball standings with a 50-40 victory over Marshfield on Tuesday night at D.C. Everest High School.
The Tigers fall to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the Valley, while Everest pushes to 12-0 and 5-0 in the conference.
The two teams will meet again in Marshfield on Feb. 13.
Marshfield found itself behind after every quarter. The Tigers kept the game within striking distance, but could never get over the hump in scoring a season-low 40 points.
Marshfield shot just 32 percent (15 of 46) and was 5-for-20 from 3-point range.
McKayla Scheuer scored 13 points to lead the Tigers before fouling out. Ema Fehrenbach added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Marshfield’s next game is Friday at home against Wausau East.
