WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Auburndale avenged an early-season loss and defeated Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 49-40 in a Marawood Conference South Division boys basketball game Friday night at Assumption High School.
The win is the Apaches’ third in a row and pushes their record to 10-4 overall and 5-3 in the Marawood South. Assumption is now 9-6 and 4-5 in the conference.
Auburndale plays a nonconference game at Neillsville on Monday.
Matt Nikolay scored 21 points and Alex Marth had 15 for the Apaches.
Auburndale trailed 24-22 at halftime before opening up a lead in the third quarter with an 11-5 run.
