AUBURNDALE – Auburndale scored 20 points or more in each of the first three quarters and rolled to a 67-25 victory over Pittsville in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Auburndale High School.
The Apaches (14-3 overall, 8-2 Marawood South) led 20-5 after one quarter and 41-16 at halftime on their way to the huge victory.
Paiton Richardson scored 17 points, Allison Linzmeier added 14 points and five steals, and Shannon Yahnke had 11 points and eight rebounds for Auburndale.
Jenna Hughes topped Pittsville (2-16, 0-10 Marawood South) with 10 points.
Ten of the 11 Apaches that played scored in the game.
Auburndale plays at first-place Marathon on Friday. Marathon is 9-1 in the Marawood South, with its only loss coming at Auburndale last month. Wisconsin Rapids Assumption stands at 9-2 with a conference bye on Friday, while Auburndale is 8-2. The Apaches’ game against Marathon will be broadcast on WOSQ-FM 92.3 and wdlbwosq.com at 7:30 p.m.
