STEVENS POINT – Stevens Point won nine of the 11 events and went on to win the Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Swim Meet title for the fourth-straight season on Thursday at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Tom Negaard and Zach Dahlseng each won two events, and the team of Negaard, Tyler Tanko, Ben Harris and Aaron Bink won the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays for the Panthers. Tanko and Harris also won individual races for Stevens Point.
Marshfield finished fourth among the five teams with 193.5 points. Stevens Point had 416.5, with Wisconsin Rapids a distant second with 275.5.
The Tigers’ top performances came from the 200 medley relay team of Calden Wojt, Scott Thompson, Michael Kruse and Brian Engel, who finished fourth in 1:56.95, and from Engel in the 100 backstroke (1L04.98).
Thompson was fifth in the 200 IM (2:33.22), Engel took fifth in the 100 freestyle (55.79), and the 400 freestyle relay team of Wojt, Ben Donahue, Thompson and Engel was fifth in 3:56.73 for Marshfield’s other top-five finishes.
Marshfield will compete at the WIAA Division 1 sectional at Hudson on Feb. 14.
