HUDSON – The Marshfield boys swim team’s season came to an end Saturday at the WIAA Division 1 sectional at Hudson High School.
Winners in each event, and the next top-18 finishes statewide among the eight sectionals, qualify for the 2015 WIAA State Boys Swimming & Diving Championships in Madison on Feb. 20-21.
Marshfield’s top individual finishes came from Brian Engel, who was seventh in the 100 freestyle (52.87 seconds) and ninth in the 100 backstroke (1:03.80).
The Tigers’ 200 medley relay team of Calden Wojt, Scott Thompson, Michael Kruse and Engel was sixth in 1:53.91.
Eau Claire Memorial/North won 10 of the 12 events and captured the team title with 429 points. Wisconsin Valley Conference champion Stevens Point was a distant second with 298 points. Marshfield finished ninth out of the 11 teams with 103 points.
