GILMAN – Jess Trad hit five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 24 points to lift the Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls basketball team to a 48-36 victory over Gilman in its final Cloverbelt Conference East Division game of the season on Monday at Gilman High School.
Trad hit seven of 12 shots overall from the field and made five of seven free throws to total her 24 points for the Dons.
Meena Thill had eight points and Abby Baierl added seven for Columbus Catholic, who improves to 11-10 overall and ends the Cloverbelt East season with an 8-8 record. Gilman is 4-16 overall and ends up 2-14 in the conference.
Columbus Catholic will host the fifth-place game of the Cloverbelt Conference East-West crossovers on Thursday night. An opponent has yet to be determined. The Dons host Greenwood in a WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinal on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. That game will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
The Dons cruised out to a 26-14 lead by halftime and led the rest of the way, ending their three-game losing streak.
Mack Skabroud led Gilman with 13 points.
