JANESVILLE – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County men’s basketball team’s season came to an end with a 115-92 loss to UW-Rock County in a Wisconsin Collegiate Conference playoff game Wednesday night at UW-Rock County.
The game went much the same way as the previous two regular-season meetings between the teams as UW-Marshfield couldn’t stop the Rattlers’ offense.
Rock County shot 51 percent (42 of 82), hit nine 3-pointers and forced 28 turnovers in the victory. The Rattlers led by nine at halftime and outscored Marshfield 65-51 in the second half.
UW-Rock County moves on to the WCC State Tournament in Wisconsin Dells on Saturday and Sunday.
Derrick Shivers scored 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Joseph Estrict had 16 points and eight rebounds, and Covon Rudolph added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Marauders, who finish the season with a 6-13 record.
Six Rattlers scored in double figures, led by Brandon Barnes, who had 23 points. J.J. Scott added 22 and Safarii Hunt had 21.
