Edgar High School senior wrestler Devin Lemanski has been voted as the WDLB-WOSQ Radio & MarshfieldAreaSports.com February High School Athlete of the Month.
The High School Athlete of the Month Award is sponsored by Marshfield Clinic, Cost Cutters Family Hair Care and Burt Trophy & Awards.
Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award: Abbotsford, Athens, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Marathon, Marshfield, Neillsville, Owen-Withee, Pittsville, Spencer, Stratford and Thorp.
Lemanski received more than 1,500 of the 3,400 votes cast.
Lemanski capped an undefeated season with his second Division 3 state championship on Feb. 28 at the 2015 WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament in Madison on Feb. 26-28.
Lemanski finished 41-0 with an 18-2 technical fall over Garrett Joles of Boyceville in the D-3 170-pound title match. Lemanski also won a state title as a sophomore as he finished 45-0 to take the 126-pound championship.
Other nominees for the February award were Owen-Withee girls basketball player Stephany Heggemeier, Stratford wrestler Mason Kauffman and Marshfield girls basketball player Caitlin Michaelis.
