MARSHFIELD – Marshfield won five events but came up two points short to finish second at its home Tiger Girls Indoor Track & Field Relays on Tuesday night at The Boson Company Fieldhouse at Marshfield High School.
D.C. Everest won the team title with 99 points, with Marshfield second with 97. Stratford took third with 84 and Auburndale was fourth with 69.5 among the eight teams at the meet.
Marshfield won the 200-yard relay, the 800 relay, the Distance Medley, the 200 hurdle shuttle and the Triple Jump relay, which was a combination of the team’s top three athletes in the event. Martha Kupfer led the Tigers in the triple jump with a jump of 33 feet, 5¼ inches.
“I was really happy with the 2-lap relay (200 yards),” Marshfield coach Dan Akin said of the Tigers’ victory, which came by less than a second over D.C. Everest. “Emma Boson, Madline Chaltry, Mariah Goeppinger and Olivia Tierney, they did great. It was an exciting race.”
Stratford won the 1,600 relay and Brianna LaSee had the top individual long jump with a leap of 15-2, edging Auburndale’s Sylviann Momont by 2½ inches.
Marshfield’s next meet is at the Wisconsin Valley Conference Indoors on April 14 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
