Newman Catholic rallies to edge Auburndale softball

AUBURNDALE – Wausau Newman Catholic rallied with three runs in the top of the seventh inning to edge Auburndale 6-4 in a Marawood Conference South Division softball game Tuesday at Auburndale High School.

Auburndale pushed out to a 4-3 lead after scoring twice in the bottom of the fourth and once in the sixth.

However, the Cardinals scored three runs in the seventh against Auburndale pitcher Rachael Bolder to pull out the victory.

Allison Linzmeier, Bolder and Sydney Schmutzer each had two hits, and Brooke Anderson had two RBIs for Auburndale.

Auburndale hosts Abbotsford in a nonconference game Friday.
