SPENCER – The Spencer softball team opened its Cloverbelt Conference East Division schedule with a resounding 13-3 victory over Gilman on Tuesday at Spencer High School.
After Gilman jumped out to a 2-0 lead, Spencer scored nine times in the bottom of the first to pull ahead.
The Rockets added two runs each in the second and third innings, and were able to end the game after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
Marisa Johnson and Kallie Reckner each went 3-for-3, and Brooke Kettleborough had a double and three RBIs for Spencer (3-2 overall).
Macie Weber earned the win for Spencer, striking out six in five innings.
Spencer hosts Greenwood on Friday.
