WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids punched out three RBI extra-base hits and went on to defeat Marshfield 5-2 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference softball game Thursday at Lincoln High School.

Kayla Buss had an RBI single to put Rapids up 1-0 in the second inning and the Raiders opened up the game in the third.

Madison Bogiue had an RBI double, Allison Brost followed with an RBI triple and McKenna Nieman’s single knocked in another run to put Rapids up 4-0.

Marshfield chipped away, scoring single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Emily Draeger’s single scored Melissa Roberts in the fourth, and Morgan Nordbeck had an RBI single to plate Kayla Kluge in the fifth, cutting Rapids’ lead in half.

However, the Tigers wouldn’t get another run against Brost, who struck out three in the complete-game victory.

Caitlyn Kozik struck out three and did not walk a batter in suffering the loss for Marshfield (3-2 overall, 1-2 Wisconsin Valley Conference).
