STRATFORD – The Stratford softball team continued its undefeated streak in the Marawood Conference South Division after blasting Pittsville 11-1 on Tuesday.
Stratford pounded out 11 hits and took advantage of five walks and four Pittsville errors to roll to the win.
The game was tight midway through, with Stratford clinging to a 2-1 lead after four innings. The Tigers then scored seven times in the fifth and added two more in the sixth to end the game via the 10-run rule.
Sammy Griesbach, Casey Kolbeck, Kaylee Geiger and Sammy Kaiser each had two hits for Stratford (9-2 overall, 5-0 Marawood South).
Lorrie Luepke earned the win with 3 2/3 innings of shutout relief and smacked a home run for the Tigers.
Stratford plays at Marathon on Thursday. Marathon is also unbeaten in the Marawood South at 4-0.
