COLBY – Ellayna Lyon and Marisa Johnson combined on a three-hit, five-inning shutout to lead the Spencer softball team to a 10-0 whipping of Colby in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Thursday at Colby High School.
Lyon allowed three hits and two walks in four innings and Johnson had a flawless fifth to finish off the win for Spencer (7-2, 5-0 Cloverbelt East).
Brooke Kettleborough had a triple and three RBIs, and Johnson and Lindsey Vaughan each scored three times for Spencer.
“I thought Ellayna Lyon did a great job of locating pitches,” Spencer coach Jason Gorst said. “She was very effective tonight and Marisa Johnson did a nice job finishing out the game.”
Spencer takes on second-place Gilman (9-3, 6-1 Cloverbelt East) on Friday at Gilman. The Rockets won the first game this season between the two teams 13-3.
