Spencer baseball sweeps two at Auburndale

AUBURNDALE – The Spencer baseball team ran their record to 9-2 this season by sweeping a nonconference doubleheader on Saturday at Auburndale High School.

The Rockets won 13-3 and 16-0 as both games ended in five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Freshman Aaron Pankratz won the opening game, scattering eight hits in four innings.

Spencer had 16 hits in the win, three each coming from Mitch Susa, Nate Neumann and Jake Meyers.

In the second game, Susa struck out four in three shutout innings to earn the win for Spencer.

Hunter Luepke was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Meyers had two hits and drove in four, and Susa added a single, a double and two RBIs for Spencer.

Auburndale’s statistics were not provided.

Spencer plays at Greenwood on Tuesday, while Auburndale is off until Thursday when it hosts Stratford.
