Marshfield boys golf ties for fourth at second Wisconsin Valley Conference meet

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Zach Shortess tied for seventh place after shooting an 83 and the Marshfield boys golf team tied for fourth overall at the second leg of the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament on Tuesday at the Ridges Golf Course.

Stevens Point finished first in the team standings for the second-straight time in the seven-part tournament with a score of 345, 17 shots better than Wausau West. Marshfield and D.C. Everest tied for fourth with a score of 352.

Jordan Schlinsog shot a 88, Brandon Nikolai had a 90, Grant Michaelis had a 91 and Derek Michalski shot 92 for the Tigers.

Derek Tomczik of D.C. Everest shot a 77 to take meet medalist honors. Matt Tuman of Wausau East and Jake Hofmeister of Stevens Point shot 79s to tie for second.

The tournament continues with the third leg on Friday at Pine Valley Golf Course in Marathon. Wausau East is the host school.
