WAUSAU EAST – Maddie Haessly and Kendra Tremelling scored and Marshfield’s defense did the rest as the Tigers beat Wausau East 2-0 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls soccer game Tuesday.

Haessly scored with 8:26 remaining in the first half and Tremelling added a goal 10:10 into the second half to provide the scoring for the Tigers (4-7-1 overall, 2-4 Wisconsin Valley Conference).

Julia Urban assisted on the first-half goal, and Charlotte Urban assisted on the second score for Marshfield.

Andrea Carolfi made five saves in goal for the Tigers, who have shut out all four opponents in their victories this season.

The defense is led by Emily Critelli and McKayla Scheuer at deep sweep, and Patty Jo Bloczynski, Charlotte Urban and Amanda Feltz.

“This was a nice win and the defense just continues to improve and be steady,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “Andrea has had some nice saves to slow the offense down.”

Marshfield plays at Wausau West on Thursday at 5 p.m.
