RHINELANDER – The Marshfield girls soccer team finished 1-2 at the Rhinelander Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Marshfield (5-10-1 overall) lost to Rhinelander 7-0 on Friday and bounced back to split a pair of games Saturday, beating Iron Mountain (Mich.) 2-0 and losing to Lakeland 2-1.
Gabby Milot had five goals for Rhinelander in the win Friday. Andrea Carolfi had eight saves in goal for the Tigers.
Maddie Haessly and Olivia Haessly each scored in the second half for the Tigers in the win over Iron Mountain.
Maddie Haessly had the Tigers’ lone goal in the loss to Lakeland.
“The team had a nice meeting to discuss how our performance was definitely not us in the first game as we just played slow and not as a team,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “The girls decided they needed to perform better and as a unit and the next two games they did and played much better and connected passes.
“We are maturing and playing up and down, now we need to level out those lows to be more consistent.”
Marshfield is off until Thursday when it hosts Stevens Point at 5 p.m. at Griese Park.
