Auburndale baseball, softball lose at Athens

ATHENS – The Auburndale softball and baseball teams were swept in nonconference games at Athens on Monday.

The Auburndale softball team lost 13-1 and the baseball team was defeated 8-2.

Athens scored three times in the first and second innings and put the game away with a seven-run third to win the softball contest.

Auburndale (5-10) was held to four hits and Hannah Bolder scored the lone run.

In the baseball game, Athens scored three times in the first and fifth innings to pull away.

Auburndale (4-7) had only four hits. Mason Kollross drove in one run and Collin Hawkins had a double for the Apaches.

Both Auburndale teams will host Pittsville on Tuesday at 4:45 p.m. in Marawood Conference South Division games.
