Nine-run third inning pushes Spencer softball past Loyal/Granton

SPENCER – Spencer scored nine times in the third inning and rolled to an 11-1 win over Loyal/Granton in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division softball game Friday at Spencer High School.

The score was tied 1-1 before the Rockets’ big third inning. Spencer finished off the win with a run in the sixth inning, ending it via the 10-run rule.

Macie Weber allowed just four hits and walked six to earn the win for the Rockets (17-3, 11-0 Cloverbelt East).

Marisa Johnson had two singles, two doubles and two RBIs to lead the 17-hit performance by Spencer.

Brooke Kettleborough and Lexi Baehr each added three hits, and Baehr and Mandie Schultz each had a pair of RBIs for the Rockets.

Spencer hosts Neillsville for a doubleheader Tuesday starting at 4 p.m.
