MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield baseball team had a walk-off victory and finished a perfect 3-0 at its home Marshfield Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Jack Hackman Field.
Marshfield defeated Menomonie 9-8 in nine innings on Friday and came back Saturday to beat Holmen 9-1 and Antigo 4-2 to run its winning streak to six in a row.
Menomonie scored four times in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game at 8-8 and forcing extra innings.
The Tigers finally won it in the ninth. Braden Bohman led off the inning with a single and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Cameron Swanson.
Jack Donahue went 3-for-4 and Caleb Alexander hit a home run in the win for the Tigers. Tyson Slade grabbed the win with an inning of scoreless relief.
Alexander and Swanson each went 2-for-2 in the victory over Holmen.
Mason Tysver pitched 6 2/3 innings, giving up just one run and four hits, to earn the win.
Slade was the winning pitcher against Antigo, giving up two runs in five innings. Bohman was 2-for-2 for the Tigers.
Marshfield (13-7) returns to Wisconsin Valley Conference action this week against D.C. Everest. The teams will play at Hackman Field at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and at D.C. Everest on Thursday.
