WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Marshfield’s Michelle Theisen set a new school record in the shot put with a throw of 37 feet, 9 inches, on Tuesday at wet and stormy Wisconsin Valley Conference Track and Field Relays.
The 3×300-meter hurdle team of Kelsey Coffren, Alexa Fritsch and Ellen Stichert, and the discus team of Kelsey Weigel, Michelle Theisen, Marsha Lammar totaled 289-11 for the Marshfield girls two victories.
Marshfield’s boys and girls teams finished fourth in the team standings. Wausau West won the girls title and Stevens Point took first for the boys.
The 800 relay team of Bisola Omoba, Miranda Snortheim, Nikki Youngblood and Gabriella Myrie finished second.
Marshfield was second in the triple jump, and third in the 3×300 hurdle relay, the pole vault, the 800 relay, the 400 relay and the 3,200 relay.
“The girls came to perform under less than ideal conditions tonight,” Marshfield girls coach Dan Akin said. “Our hurdlers looked good tonight, as did our throwers. Having Michelle set a school record in the shot put shows how dedicated she has been to the sport and to her getting stronger in the weight room. Coach Don Weigel has done a great job with the throwers and it shows night in and night out.”
