Stratford football suffers first loss of season, falling at Marathon

MARATHON – Marathon pulled away in the second half to top Stratford 33-14 in a Marawood Conference football game Friday night that pitted two undefeated squads against each other.

Marathon is now 3-0 and 2-0 in the Marawood, while Stratford falls to 2-1 and 0-1 in the conference.

Stratford scored first, on a 2-yard run by Taylor Krall with 5:01 to go in the second quarter, before the Raiders exploded.

Marathon scored three touchdowns in the final 4:05 of the first half and Alex Robbins closed out the scoring with two long TD runs in the fourth. Robbins finished with 153 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

Krall had 81 yards and Kam Bornbach added 70 on the ground for Stratford.

Stratford’s next game is Sept. 11 at Tomahawk (3-0, 2-0 Marawood).
