Stratford girls second, boys fifth at Wittenberg-Birnamwood Cross Country Invite

WITTENBERG – Johnelle Miner finished seventh and Stratford had two other top-15 finishes to finish second in the girls team standings at the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday at W-B High School.

Miner was seventh in 21:22 to lead the Tigers to a second-place team finish behind host Wittenberg-Birnamwood. Macie Schillinger was 14th (22:45) and Kaylee Hollatz took 15th (22:46) for Stratford.

The Stratford boys finished fifth, with four runners finishing in the top 22. John Geissinger was 12th (18:34) and Cade Lehman took 14th (18:51) for the Tigers’ top two finishes.

Little Chute won the boys team title as Luke Sampson won the meet in 16:49 and teammate Derek Hietpas was second in 17:13 for the Mustangs.

Alissa Niggemann of Amherst won the girls title with a time of 20:07, eight seconds ahead of Marion’s Delaney Greene.

Stratford hosts its annual invitational on Monday.
