FOND DU LAC – The Marshfield boys soccer team lost its opener and came back with a tie to finish 0-1-1 at the Fond du Lac Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Luke McCann scored on an assist from Kade McManus to the Tigers’ only goal in a 4-1 loss to Appleton Xavier on Friday night.

On Saturday, the Tigers tied Fond du Lac 1-1. Again, it was McCann scoring with McManus assisting for Marshfield’s only score.

Marshfield goalkeeper Mathias Holm had 14 saves in the tie with the Cardinals.

“It was a good weekend for building team chemistry,” Marshfield coach Steve McCann said. “The results were not what we wanted, but we had significant contributions from multiple players.”

Marshfield (1-4-2) plays at Merrill on Tuesday in a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup.
